Mary Ellen Vajravelu, MD MSHP

Dr. Vajravelu is a pediatric endocrinologist in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh. She treats all pediatric endocrine conditions and has special expertise in prediabetes and type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents.

Her research focuses on pediatric obesity and type 2 diabetes. Her research aims to identify and implement strategies to increase engagement in physical activity; to uncover and address inequities in health outcomes; and to identify and implement optimal treatment approaches, including use of appropriate pharmacotherapy and diabetes technology.
